Bra Bra Bra - Different functions

Though the origin of the bra dates back to over 6000 years ago, it has evolved from being a garment that revealed the breast; to one that was supposed to make them smaller and more manlike; to one that made the breasts look symmetrical; to today's designer bras that have many different functions and designs.

All bras have a shoulder strap, cups, a center panel and a band with fasteners which are usually at the back but can be in the front. They are mostly made of cotton, or lace with underwire or plastic to give support and lift. Bras can be padded for comfort or to enhance the shape. Today there are even silicone gel pads that are more life like in both appearance and weight and can give even the most unendowed woman a feminine and alluring shape.

The full figured woman will mostly choose a full support bra for everyday wear and choose a demi-cup to wear with evening gowns or low cut tops. Shelf bras, which push up and display the breasts and peephole bras (where the nipples are shown through a cut-out circle) are worn mostly for sexual reasons. Most girls start out wearing a training bra, mainly to get used to wearing a bra: wearing a bra is considered rite of passage in our culture. Pregnant women will wear a maternity bra with fold down cups to allow for breast feeding a baby. A pad is usually inserted to prevent leakage of breast milk. Push-up bras are used to emphasize the cleavage, whereas minimizer bras are used to make the breasts smaller. Strapless bras are used when wearing evening dress, but most have detachable straps that can be added to the bra if needed. Bras designed to be worn with tee-shirts are seamless. Some clothes have a built in bra so a separate bra is not needed, thus eliminating two sets of straps. Women who are active in sports will wear a sport bra to support and prevent the breasts from bouncing and to reduce friction and damage to the delicate tissue. And lastly, the mastectomy bras has a prosthesis intended to allow her to look normal and wear her clothes with confidence.

So as you can see, the bra has many different functions in today's society and entire industries can be built around designing new and improved versions of an old stand-by.

Perfect Dress For You

When you look in your closet do you see dresses that you like or are there many, many old, out of style dresses that you wouldn’t dare be seen in? Fashions do change over time and naturally the cut and style of modern dresses is very different from even 20-30 years ago. Why? Fashions change, tastes change and of course people simply get bored of wearing the same old dresses.

The 1970s and 80s saw the beginning of more divergent trends in fashion. This was the result of the increasing popularity of ready-to-wear collections by major designers, which made fashionable label-conscious dressing possible for the middle class. You’ll find that every store has dozens of trendy labels that portray the image style and class. Today most people simply buy their dresses of the shelf, no need to have each individual item of clothing hand made.

When you’re looking for the right dress to wear, don’t worry too much about it being the perfect one. Dresses come in all styles, shapes, colors and materials. Try this approach: choose a dress style that you feel comfortable and confident in, accessorize it with a few tasteful choices (such as a nice purse) and enjoy your evening out.

The power of the internet allows you to thoughtfully choose and select the dresses that would look best on you. So the next time you look into your wardrobe closet and you’re wondering what to wear, you’ll have a wide range of comfortable, attractive dresses to choose from.

Type of Swimswear

When anyone goes to the beach they usually observe several different types of swimwear girls walking around. Some have one pieces, while others have bikinis and others might wear tankinis, which are like bikinis, but instead the tops more like a tank top. Whatever the different types of swimwear girls are wearing there will always be a new style or fashion that will be chasing after. For now though there are only a few main choices.

Now the very first design of swimwear for girls basically would reveal as little as possible while still allowing women to swim freely. These were the original one-piece swimsuits. They are still widely available, but less and less teens are wearing them now. Most of the swimwear girls choose are the two-piece ones or the tankinis.

The most popular form of swimwear for girls today is the bikinis and tankinis. They are mostly worn by the slim teens, but anyone can wear them. The tankinis are like a regular bikini except for under the top part, it kind of goes down a little further like a tank top. They are pretty stylish and give you a unique look when walking around on the beach

Fashion Style for All Women

Fashion today is all pervasive and try as you might you cannot avoid it. Whether you live in the United States or Switzerland or Timbuktu, fashion will find you in some way or the other and have a say in your life. Even if you choose not to follow it you will see it all around you oozing from your television sets (I am sure you know that there are channels dedicated to only fashion!), your office colleagues, at a party; practically every place you can think of.

The epitome of a fashion statement is the Banana Republic range of clothing from Gap. It satisfies our need to look nice and be attractive for other people. Some people will go all the way and spend a fortune trying to look more fashionable than the next door neighbor.

To suit various style statements that different people want to make about themselves clothing companies launch sub brands or different types of clothing under different brand names. One brand for a particular style! While Old Navy (also from Gap) may be all about casual clothing and comfort, Banana Republic provides the stylishness that some consumers may be searching for. So the fashion and clothing companies resort to different brands for different styles, price range and purpose.

If you are looking to pick up something to make a high fashion statement then Banana Republic is the brand for you. It has an optimistic and fashionable modern look. It is range of clothing which will lure even those men who like to claim that they do not care about looks. Fight as they might men will need to admit today that even a schmuck looks better in a tuxedo and a gentleman can spoil his own image by making an appearance in torn, dirty jeans.

Most women also like the wide range offered by Banana Republic. It has a business look and a nice club look. It gives a nice elegant look and though the prices may seem higher the price to value equation works out very fine. One only has to remember the t-shirt one purchased a few weeks back at bargain prices that faded in a single wash.

If you want to look good and be seen in the latest a la mode styles and fashions, then my dear friend you will need to spend lavishly to obtain that look. There are no free lunches in life.

Wonderful Dresses

Dresses have become a very big come back... Wonderful dresses have made their way back into the lime light, and are so fashion trendy this season...

Dresses are back! Its so nice to be able to play dress up.

Dresses have come back in a big way this year. Hemlines are up and down, dress lines are easy on the figure, and styled to enhance the curves.

Most dresses are styled to fall just above the knees. This is a flattering length on most woman, and a comfortable length for most occations.

The shirt dress, seems to be one of the design styles that stays around forever. I love this classic style. It can be worn for fun or business. So functional...And shows off the waist...

The new shirt dress, is styled to fall just above the knee or shorter, as a rule is belted with matching belt. But a girl can easily add her own choice of belt, make your own statement, so to say.

Wearing Comfortable Jean

Jeans, Jeans and more Jeans... It appears that most popular designers are betting that woman want a jean with a bit higher waist, and closer fit at the leg. Such as the straight leg, boot cut, and the skinny jean. Madonna has started the new higher waist jean in England, and this trend is quickly making its way across the pond... It might be nice to not have to worry about the dreaded muffin top?

Fashion Tips-Don't do these fashion mistake

CIFF Trends | Summer 2007
CIFF Trends | Winter 2007

1. Wearing the Wrong Colours

To look your best wear clothing colours that will complement your skin. Wearing the wrong colors will make your skin appear sallow and lines and wrinkles will be more evident. The right colours will make you look more vibrant and healthy.

2.Wearing Clothes that are too small

Wearing clothes that fit too tightly will make you appear larger. Buy clothes by fit not by size.

3. An old-fashioned hairstyle or messy hair

Your hairstyle creates a first impression. From your hairstyle people will assume your education level, status, age etc. This doesn’t mean the judgments are correct – they happen instinctively. Make sure it doesn’t happen to you. Visit your hairstylist regularly.

4. Messy Shoes or wrong shoes for your outfit

Take care of your shoes they complete your look. Also pay attention that your complement your outfit.

5. Mismatched hose

Match your hose with your shoes or with your pants or skirt.

6. Wearing inappropriate clothes

When in a working environment make sure that your clothes are not flashy (unless you are in a creative field) do not wear short skirts, (more than 3 inches above the knee) sleeveless tops, plunging necklines, stilettos, too much jewelry, leather pants or skirts, or anything that shimmers.

Modernists Fashion from London Fashion Week

On arrival at Modernists show guests were presented with a single pastel pink rose setting the tone perfectly for the uber romantic, dreamy collection which followed. It was by far my favourite show of the day, which is not surprising when taking into account my unconditional love for all things girlie, yes that includes flowers, frills, lace and even ruffles, all of which featured across this collection.

London Fashion Week: Modernist

Departing from last seasons predominantly black colour palette the show opened with an array of truly stunning white dresses, ethereal models glided along the catwalk in these creations which varied with intricate appliqué details and amazingly ornate cut outs providing the pieces with texture. Clean lines and interesting angles however gave the designs a strong and modern edge.

Colour came in the form of pastel pink tulip skirts giving way to stunning deep mauve dresses in structured fabrics as well as violet full length gloves which added to the elegant glamour of the collection. lavish floral detail came in the form of over-sized corsages on sheer tops.

Dior Fashion For Spring/Summer 2009 Collection in Paris

PARIS (Reuters) - France's ready-to-wear spring and summer shows began in earnest on Monday with Christian Dior's collection, as the world of fashion flew in the face of an increasingly ominous world environment.

Dior's show at the Tuileries gardens marked the start of the main part of the industry showpiece after the annual spring-summer shows began at the weekend with collections from a clutch of younger designers.

"Tribal chic. Studded. Belted. Degrade," read the notes to Dior designer John Galliano's show in which he sent a parade of teenaged models in diaphanous party dresses stalking down the catwalk to a pulsing rock beat.

"It's very young, transparent, light and quite sober," actress Marisa Berenson told Reuters Television after the show. "There were some wonderful mixtures of colors as he always does but I liked the lightness and the transparency."

Jumpsuits - All-in-Ones - Catsuits

Fashion trends 2008 -Jumpsuit, catsuit, all in one - Debenhams Womenswear Spring/Summer 2008 - Star by Julien Macdonald shimmer catsuit £60/€93, Mood gold bangles from £8. Jumpsuit fashion trend 2008. Debenhams Womenswear Spring/Summer 2008 - Star by Julien Macdonald satin safari jumpsuit £60/€93 and Debut gold lame scarf £10/€15.50. Jumpsuits, also called all-in-ones, were a great fashion trend of the 1960s and the 1970s. Now have truly been revived and since they are so practical they are sure to be a winner. Preen's lovely parachute silk jumpsuits are not to be confused with the all-in-one 1980s shell suits of yesteryear. Avoid any jumpsuits you see made of nylon rip-stop style parachute fabric, or you may well get a lot of déjà vu strange stares as people think - shell suit season! Choose this look and the fabric with great care.

Catsuits, or all-in-ones can be as classily glitzy as the Debenhams creamy oyster evening wear jumpsuit far left, or as cool and collected as the black safari style everyday wear near right.

FLOWERS Fashion - LE JARDIN

Marks and Spencer Spring Summer 2008 Per Una range. Gorgeous Lily Cole models this summer dress which illustrates patchwork, abstract floral printed fabric, semi-sheer tiers and a new fascination with the colour blue. Must- have sheer floral fashion.

Botanical or floral prints bring the garden onto clothing and accessories. The impact making change within floral prints, is that they are often painterly with the appearance of brushstrokes. Trends in fabrics show materials often have the look of hand painting, or graffiti like scribbles and smears; whilst some are more colour oriented and appear spray, tie, or Ombre dip dyed.

D&G dress with patchwork frillsNote too, many other ditsy retro florals influenced by 40, 50s and 70s dolly print found on cutie blouses. Naturally, a long stem with a flower head makes for great life-size border prints, and from that innovative new silhouette styles have emerged.

Right - The original inspiration of one of the D&G patchwork print dresses.

This soft feminine look is terrific with metallic footwear, but the look can easily be toughened up by wearing calf strapped Gladiator sandals, or heavier flat footwear such as shoe boots. This was a trend back in the 1980s when girly Laura Ashley dresses were made to look more aggressive when solid black Doc Marten shoes were were teamed with the dolly prints.

Uneven hem and asymmetric hem skirts

These skirts come in different shapes and are wonderful for a variety of figures. The hem moves and swishes rhythmically at different levels with a woman's gait, thus distracting from any body flaws at the hip, thigh or leg.

The bias- checkered skirt with different hem lengths on both sides is great for tall or medium curvy figures, as it skims the hips. It will also flatter thin legs. The blue Christopher Kane frilly skirt is great for tall and slim as well as petite figures. Both of them are good for day wear and casual outings. The red skirt by Y3 is ideal for pear shaped figures of all heights, and can be worn for casual or formal occasions. They are shown below.

The mustard Oscar de la Renta long skirt is great for thin, slim or curvy figures with a good height because it hugs the hip and then spreads out in dramatic volume, a perfect number for a theatrical entrance at a party. Below right.

The shape of the Chloe handkerchief hem skirt is beautiful for tall, full-figured women, because the hem distracts from a heavy figure, and is shown here on the left below.

A variety of shoes work with the asymmetrical hem, and these can all be seen in the pictures here. For fall, these skirts would look hip with knee-length boots as well.

Pencil Skirts Trend with knee-length skirts

Pencil Skirts

These knee-length skirts are fitted to the body from the waist to slightly above the knee, usually in stretchy fabrics or with a slit at the back. They are for you only if you are skinny or slim, because they curve in at the hip, emphasizing the hips and the derriere. The black leather Roberto Cavalli skirt is a classic pencil skirt that could be worn to formal occasions for sensual elegance. Great for a svelte figure.

Roberto Cavalli pencil skirt

You can wear the high-waisted white Danielle Scutt if you want to show off the curve of your hips, and shorten your torso. To gently play the hips down a little, you would need a shape like that of the golden hipster pencil skirt from Blumarine which is perfect for a smaller frame with a short torso.

Danielle Scutt pencil skirt Blumarine pencil skirt

The woolen black pencil skirt teamed with the jacket is perfect for office wear, especially for thin women. Though the pencil is commonly worn plain, you can also wear embroidered versions like the charming 6267 pencil skirt flared at the knee. This would look especially good on you if you are trying to distract attention from a long torso or small bust, because the entire attention will be focused on your lower body. Pencil skirts usually look nicer with close-toed heeled shoes including patent leather point shoes. As can be seen from the pictures, a little strap detail at the ankle is flattering as well. These skirts usually do not look nice with boots.

Armani suit the best

Armani suits are always among the best. Armani understands how to use lines to create illusions and to make the body appear elegant, classy and professional.
woman suit

This suit is not what you'd commonly think of as an Armani, however. This is a light pink two-piece skirt. The material is a delicate crepe. There are frills and trills to this baby. It's so feminine and pretty. This is a suit for a woman who wants to feel - and look - like a woman in a corporate world that, unfortunately, is still dominated by men. credit:lifeinitaly

Blumarine with rock n' roll feeling

woman suit Blumarine brings us this yellow suit. It's got a very rock n' roll feel. It's a suit that's not very corporate looking. The skirt is mini; the jacket is buttoned all the way down like denim. There are pockets on each breast of this gabardine jacket. The stitch detailing is fantastic. It's unlined and has belt loops to give it an all-over casual, denim feel. Wear this on the town with friends or to a night club if you're meeting and greeting in the entertainment industry. This is not your lawyer's suit; but, one you could totally rock while looking oh-so-hot!

Many times when you think of a pin-striped suit, you think of shady dealings and unsavory characters.

Cavalli tuxedo-inspired pant suit - look good!!!

A suit is professional. It's classy. It's elegant. A suit screams power, competence and ambition. In recent years, the corporate world has moved a bit away from the traditional business suit. Things have gotten a little bit more casual in many places. However, you still can't beat a suit for an interview or a major meeting with a client.

Cavalli tuxedo-inspired pant suit. The black pants suit and jacket has shimmery, Crepe-de-Chine satin accents that give the tuxedo effect. You can wear this piece dressed up for a gala night-time event of dressed down a bit for the daytime when you have to meet with important clients or ask your boss for that new raise!

woman suit
The pants are boot-cut and can accommodate a variety of types of footwear. They also give a slimming effect to thicker ankles or calves. The pants are low waisted and comfortable. The blazer goes in on the waist and out at the hips to give that hour-glass effect to any woman's figure. Tweed is great for fall and winter wear. It's warm and comfortable. It's also very professional-looking.

Triangula Fabric Skirt-Not to wear skirts with flats

Sometimes triangular fabric pieces are added to make the flares dance as you walk like in this dark grey skirt with neat black detailing. This distracts from heavy hips. Great choice for a full-figured woman, and good for wearing at office.

The A-line could also be paneled, slimming the hips in the process as in the cream and black printed skirt here. This is great for a pear-shaped figure. An a-line could also be made in a heavier, stiffer fabric with pleats, like the plain cream skirt by Ellie Tahari, shown on the right, which is ideal for a thin or petite figure.

Elie Tahari pleated skirt

Depending on the choice of fabric, these skirts can be casual or formal enough for office wear. Close-toed shoes with pointy heels, strappy heeled sandals, ankle boots and wedge heels all work marvelously with these skirts. It is best not to wear these skirts with flats. credit:lifeinitaly.com

Designer Clothing Styles

Plus size teens and young adults had almost no choice in terms of chic and designer clothing, for many years. They mostly had to shop at ‘fat’ stores, and find the slightest conventional styles at the ‘plus size ladies or guys’ store. Though manufacturers and retail stores often referred to their plus size clothing ‘teen friendly’, actually the large floral print smock type blouses were not even much appealing to old ladies! It was then that the s/m/l frame of mind of designers finally realized that there are many men and women, and not just teens only, for whom s/m/l sizes do not fit.

Those to be the worst hit were the plus size pre-teens. At their embarrassing growing age, pre-teens had no option but to buy long and loose-fitting baggy jeans, and they got them altered, they grew out of them quickly. Swimming suits for pre-teens neither attractive nor properly sized and at the best the sizes were 14 or 16.

The 1970s was the period of approval and aware that a standard size did not fit everyone, and jean companies began extending their line to size 18 and 20, with some stylish alternatives. In early 1980s, Richard Simmons came on the fashion scene and brought identification plus size women and men, as much as anyone else, desire some fashionable clothes in the wardrobe too. Still, it wasn’t for another two decades that fashion actually embraced a teenage, young-looking plus size look.

Times have finally undergone the required change! Realization has struck the fashion world that there is a market for young, trendy, plus size clothing, with the Internet having become the delivery medium. In fact, the internet has played a great role in forcing preferences on the fashion manufacturers, who are gradually realizing the existence of profitable business in this regard.

Though plus size teens are still short of variety at the mall, the scenario is bound to change with the ever increasing popularity of the online plus size teen stores. The waif model is taking on a more realistic body form, as fashion designers are designing their styles around ‘normal’ women, instead of a size 0, and making it bigger for their plus size buyers.

The earlier view that plus size teens would rather not come out due to their weight problem, hence not needing fashion is being substituted with the understanding that with body acceptance an increased ability to handle weight issues comes along. Such a novel, encouraging way of looking at size and fashion will eventually help plus size teens feel better about themselves, both mentally and physically. It is obvious that the fashion world will welcome these new body types and retail potential, going on to enlarge their lines with plus size clothing made especially for plus size teens. credit:articlesnatch

Best Look In Shapewear

In today’s society it has become imperative to have an ultimate ‘best look’ appeal. Regardless of sex and the occasion, be it business, social or romantic, the way we present ourselves remain one of the key factors of our future success. Isn’t it therefore important to do everything necessary to ultimately achieve our goals? Of course, there are various solutions to this dilemma if you are not one of those individuals blessed with a natural drop-dead gorgeous figure. In fact, most of us aren’t. One solution, and most probably the obvious, would be to go the healthy way by employing strict eating regimes and with regular exercise. This is of course the recommended way but has a slight detriment associated with it in the sense that the effects aren’t always immediately visible. And even if you do follow the healthier route… well, sometimes you just can’t seem to shed those last extra pounds.

The solution of course lies in shapewear, the modern, more improved and definitely more comfortable version of the corset and the girdle. Shapewear is a must-have, especially for those suffering from less attractive bodily features such as cellulite which might protrude through clothing. Of course, cellulite is not the only reason people might consider shapewear. This is evident in the wide variety of shapewear available to consumers. Let’s take a look at some of them:

The Camisole is similar in look to the chemise, but has a tighter fit which covers the whole torso. Nowadays, shapewear camisoles not only offer noticeable differences in appearance, with reductions to waistlines as well as a lift to the breasts, but also have the added benefit in that it aids in the permanent reduction of those unwanted inches.

The Padded Panty is designed to give you that posterior lift where you need it most. Modern shapewear padded panties feature padding that ensures that the wearer is comfortable and in control and has the added benefit of being discreet. These naturally come in a variety of colors with the ‘nude’ skin tone color a popular choice.

A Cincher Vest for males is similar to the Camisole for women in the sense that it covers the whole torso. It has, like other shapewear products, the benefit of being lined with latex which promotes a micro-massage on the wearer’s body as he moves around. Coupled with compression and perspiration, the shapewear Cincher Vest will promote a reduction in those unwanted measurements.

An addition to shapewear products available for males comes in the form of the High Compression Rubber Cincher. As opposed to the shapewear Cincher Vest, the High Compression Rubber Cincher is focused on the abdominal area with an increase in compression which naturally aids in shaping the wearers abdomen and keeping it that way!

The above are of course only a few of the wide variety of products available to both men and women. And, if you’re worried about feeling self-conscious whilst wearing your shapewear, just remember that some of Hollywood’s top celebrities have made use of these singular products to give them the shape they desired. credit:articlebiz

Ready-To-Wear Short Skirts & Minidresses

Now it’s time to learn why short skirts and dresses are just as fabulous, if you aren’t already loving them.

Short dresses and mini skirts are the perfect clothing for summer. You can throw a mini dress on over a bikini with flip flops for day, or wear one with layers of necklaces and heels for night. Short skirts are great too - you can wear them with longer sleeved tops to cover up your shoulders without feeling too hot, or rock them with a simple tank and jewelry for an effortlessly cute outfit.

My favorite part: leg-baring styles allow you to show off your great (hopefully faux) summer tan!

While bare legs are always a mainstay of summer fashion, they’re especially fashionable this year. That’s because they were all over the Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear runways. Here are a few examples of the designer looks (photos courtesy of Syle.com): credit:collegefashion

Find The Right Dress Follow The Dress Trend

You don’t have to go all out to incorporate a little hippie style into your spring wardrobe. Just pick up a few key items and mix them in with what you already own.

The Right Dress Dresses and skirts are a big part of the boho look. This spring, some of the dress trends are super long dresses, prints, florals, and bright colors paired with earthy tones. Some examples:
