Balmain’s Fall Collection

Filled with slick ’80s references—from leather pants and one-shoulder tops to super-tight minidresses—as well as beaded zebra and leopard prints, Balmain’s fall collection possessed an edgy, downtown cool not often associated with the storied French house. Instead of mining the archives, Balmain’s current creative director, Christopher Decarnin, prettified his punk-rock looks by embellishing python-printed jeans with crystal snake accents and adding lace panels to body-hugging black dresses. While Decarnin offered few daytime looks, his glittery separates will thrill today’s party girl.

New Look dresses From Balenciaga

For many designers, combining sci-fi visions with flamenco undertones would spell disaster, but in Nicholas Ghesquiere’s able hands the result is anything but. Fusing iconic shapes—from New Look dresses to cocoon coats—with forward-looking fabrics like PVC and latex, the designer made a strong case for dramatically severe silhouettes. In addition to his armorlike separates in gray, black, and champagne hues, Ghesquiere unveiled a few tough-luxe accents that will no doubt dictate what we wear and see come September. On the runway, shoes came sharply pointed, and vintage-looking baubles adorned the neck and both wrists—because after all, you can never get enough of a good thing...

Paris Fashion Week 2008 - Christian Dior

Simon and Garfunkel’s Mrs. Robinson played at the beginning and end of the Dior fall show, which was filled with heady '60s notes. Galliano put a daring spin on care-free Camelot shapes by fashioning them out of pony, ostrich, and other exotic skins layered in exuberant hues including fuchsia, melon, and acid blue. Asymmetrical hoop earrings, glittery padded headbands, and sculptural hats were all just as striking. When viewed through Galliano's kaleidoscopic eyes, the Kennedy-era seems a brighter oasis than ever, a vision that will no doubt be appreciated by many of his more optimistic followers.

Trend with Rodarte Few Designers

Rodarte Few designers embrace fashion like the Rodarte girls do. If the sisters’ dedication to the art form was ever in question, any reservations were put aside after their show. Dresses defying definition are fashioned out of umber chiffon, raw-edge silk, filmy knits, and lace. The collection’s dainty romance is tempered by tough accents including studded heels and fingerless gloves, which results in the kind of potent look more often found on European runways.

Beauty Icons of Today The Standout Hairstyle

Beauty Icons of Today Just like eras past, there will always be a few boldface names whose look makes a mark on beauty history. While Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, and Jane Birkin are usually regarded in this respect, these five girls are close on their heels, each with a certain something that makes them iconic in their own right.

The Standout Hairstyle

Though this British soul singer continues to garner her fair share of negative press, Amy Winehouse still finds a way to hold her head up high, even if there is a notoriously unkempt, slightly askew beehive on top of it. Paired with heavy wing-tipped eyeliner, Winehouse’s updated homage to the sixties ensures her look will be talked about for many years to come.

Dress Likes Dancing Queen

The Dancing With the Stars cast will have nothing on you when you don one of these spot-light stealing numbers:

With a thigh-grazing cut and glittery feather-shaped embellishments, MLH's killer dress gives good reason to be proud as a peacock when strutting your stuff on the dance floor.

Be the belle—the silver belle that is—of the ball in Juicy Couture's sporty sequin stripe number.

Channel Jazz Age flappers in dancehall-inspired frocks that come with a glamorous, faded patina.

If the downtown club-kid scene is more your speed, blend in with the tastemakers in a black '80s-inspired sweatshirt dress.

Take center stage in a dramatic v-neck shift dress. With 3/4 sleeves and thigh-grazing hemline, its comfortable cut will allow you to show off your smooth moves on the dance floor.

Ay Caramba! If flamenco twirls are your forte, try a dramatic one-shoulder number to draw attention to your daring dips and turns.

No one puts Baby in a corner: Tap into your Dirty Dancing dreams with a flirty, retro-feeling frock.

Leave it to Studio 54 regular Diane Von Furstenberg to whip up frock that captures the sexy glamour of the 1970s. Wear yours with platforms to fully complete the disco queen look.

In a sea of little black dresses, you'll be sure to stand out in a zesty, lemon-yellow shift.

Dancing queen indeed; Strike a regal pose in a short, gilded gown.

Kate Spray's sketch and winning design

Philadelphian Kate Spray’s flirty, free-spirited design, earned her first place in 2008's Be Discovered: Design a Dress competition as well as a trip to New York City and an apprenticeship in Adam Lippes’ studio.

Although not yet a household name, the 25-year old Ohio-native is well versed in style: She studied Fashion at Kent State University before landing her current gig at Anthropologie, where she sharpens her tailoring skills as a Design Assistant. “I entered the contest because I had something to prove to myself,” she says. When it came time to design her Be Discovered dress, Spray channeled her inner hippie to create a neo-boho frock, putting a modern spin on patchwork quilting by fashioning her shift out of silk, organic cotton and linen squares.

“Ever since I turned in the dress I've been thinking every day ‘Am I going to win? What are the judges going to think?’,” says Spray, “When I received the phone call about winning I couldn't believe it. I tried my best not to yell into the receiver because I didn't want to deafen the Glam staff on the other end!”

In addition to Glam’s staff, our esteemed judges were thrilled by Spray’s design. “Good use of textures and color tonality,” notes Monique Lhuillier, “It's a very wearable dress, good for spring and the contemporary customer.” Meanwhile, her new mentor Adam Lippes applauded her ability to fuse form and function: “Very wearable and interesting use of color blocking and appliqué detail.”

“I'm really looking forward to meeting Adam Lippes,” the Be Discovered winner says, “I always love to hear where people have been, what challenges they've faced, and how they got their start. Hearing about other designers lives' always fascinates me and gives me the extra encouragement to stay focused.” By the looks of it, we’d say Spray has plenty of focus—and talent—to spare.

Best Party Dress For Party Girls

Miley Cyrus
The Candy Girl: Whether you’re a bright-eyed teen or just young at heart, a short’n’sweet strapless dress in candy-apple red is sure to brighten up your night. Cinched-waist versions—like that seen on Miley Cyrus, a.k.a Hannah Montana—add sexy curves to lean, youthful figures.

Camilla Belle
The Petite Gamine: Pint-size party girls can add some curves with the season’s ruffled dresses. Actress Camilla Belle looks elegant and ethereal in 3.1 Phillip Lim’s two-tiered cocktail number.

Beyoncé
The Long-Limbed Beauty: Flaunt those lean, shapely legs in a flirty A-line dress. Versions with bright '60s patterns and embellishments, like Beyoncé’s Milly frock, eliminate the need for any other accessories.

Sarah Michelle Gellar
The Classicist: Audrey Hepburn fans should seek out little black dresses for a night on the town. To channel Old Hollywood glamour—like Miss Sarah Michelle Gellar does—opt for a lace-accented Empire dress that flatters every silhouette.

How To Dress For Business Trip

I do at least one business trip a year and I always struggle with what to take and how not to take too much stuff. The company I work for is very casual so I like to look professional but maintain the casual feel. Also, keep in mind with what I do I have to wear a closed toe shoe at all times.

There are three simple strategies for packing, no matter where you are going.

Pack only things that you REALLY wear. A business trip is not the time to test out a new skirt or jacket; you want clothes that you will be comfortable and confident in.

Pack basic pieces. Think both in terms of shape and color; neutral pieces in classic shapes are your best bet (black pencil skirt, brown wool trousers).

Pack pieces that work together. Choose one color palette for your trip, to guarantee that the things you pack will do multiple duty. Neutral basics plus a pop of color, in a blouse or sweater, keep your look fresh and flexible.

Idea To Focus On Trend

If winter’s cinched silhouette, groomed glamour and hardware studded power dressing was just a little bit too high maintenance to uphold all winter long, spring’s new mood will feel like a breath of fresh air.

Gone is fashion's obsession with extreme shape and spiky textures. The focus has shifted to prints, patterns and fabrics. In every catwalk trend from romantic to 70s chic, winter’s hard edge has been

replaced with a soft femininity. Out marched the dominatrix, in danced ruffles, florals and frills; delicate see-through chiffons and tulles; painterly prints; drapey forgiving fabrics and fluid shapes.

Don’t panic though, it’s not a girlie-girlie summer but a sophisticated, feminine season ahead, with grown up glamour to be found in the shape of Grecian jersey dresses, chic trousers suits and tailored safari looks – a soft, summer follow through from winter’s military trend.

You need not throw away all the belts you invested in for winter however. There is still room for waist cinching but with softer, obi and fabric belts to anchor voluminous dresses or accessorise spring’s ubiquitous high-waisted trousers.

You can forget about high maintenance hair and make-up though now winter is over. Summer calls for a pared down natural look. On the catwalk flushed cheeks and soft eyes were framed with messy curls, uncomplicated buns and ponytails. Plus the unkempt Bardot beehive is staying for spring.

Drawing inspiration from Pop artists, nature and fashion icons like Bianca Jagger, the new season has taken off in a sexy new direction – totally inspired by the 1970s, and there really is something for everyone. It all makes for an exciting new look full of whit and whimsy – the fun is back in fashion. Now select the look you want to see in more detail.

Fall 2008 Wardrobe Casual Bomber Jacket

Leather and Fur

Update your Fall 2008 wardrobe with a casual bomber jacket, or a crop motorcyle jacket. Leather has made a strong re-appearance this season, and you will find plenty of choices. Fabrics are interesting & textured (such as quilted), and think beyond basic black, as some of the best pieces this season are various shades of brown.
Leather isn't just for the outdoors anymore either, and it's one of those items where quality makes a huge difference.
Fur flew during fall fashion week in the form of full length coats, short jackets and trimmed hoods, cuffs and hems. While it used to be reserved for evening ensembles, many of the looks shown were on the casual side and some were even shown with denim.

All of us are different and it is our aim to make sure that we have mix and match options to suit and flatter your own particular shape.

In order to help you make the right decision you will be given fitting and style tips when you select each item.

You got weight problems, wider hips, DD or E cup sizes? No problem!

Prints, pastels and push-up bras are doing great job for you on the beach!

Stick to moulded bras, like the Moulded Tris, Twisted Bandeau and Booster which give shape.

The moulded Tris have subtle moulding in the cups so are perfect for those who don't like padding but want some shape.

The Tiki Halter Tri, V-wire Bandeau and Bond Bra also work well for smaller cups if you are not after Boosting.

If you are the classic Triangle shape make use of the prints, decorative detailing and ruched effect on the top half to draw attention upwards.

Don'ts

Avoid bikinis that are too dark!

They're diminishing curves, exaclty what you don't need!

Stay away from plain halters as these can be flattening.

Sexy within 7 days before Prom Party

I saw a good tips for 7 days before Prom. It's great tips and I would like to share with you.

Get yourself all dolled up for prom in just 7 days!

You need some time to get yourself ready and look and your best on your prom night - flawless and gorgeous. So here are some tips on how to get silky hair, flawless and smooth skin in just one week before the big night.

7 days before Prom

Hair

Trim hair and get rid of split ends. This is the perfect time to get a new haircut, color or highlights – you will have enough time to get used to it or touch up possible hair disasters like a bad haircut, wrong coloring or bad perm.

Body
Get a sexy tan: exfoliate first – by removing the top layer of dead epidermis cells, you will make your skin appear smoother and you’ll prepare it for tanning bed sessions (if you want a sexy and healthy looking tan for the prom night).

Complexion
A home made facial/scrub made with crushed aspirin (5 to 10 of plain aspirin) mixed with a few teaspoons of lemon juice has the ability to penetrate deeply to unclog pores and effectively exfoliate dead skin cells which reduces the incidences of acne outbreaks and stimulates cell renewal. Try to insist a bit more on the T-zone, then moisturize with a lightweight soothing cream.

5 days before Prom

Hair
Give yourself a scalp massage – do it before going to bed on dry hair. Massage the scalp using one-finger tips and working systematically over the head. This stimulates the circulation and gives hair a healthy shine.

Body
Relaxing massages - Massage is a great way to receive instantaneous benefits from herbs because the oil is worked directly into the skin and absorbed. Use essential oils or body butter and give yourself massages every day until the big night.

Legs
Massage legs with a firming body lotion. These formulas contain ingredients like caffeine and seaweed extract that temporarily tighten the skin.

2 days before Prom

Body and face
This is the perfect time to get rid of unwanted hair on body or face. Use the hair removal type that works best for you. It’s important to do it one day before prom, so that the redness could go away. Just be careful, shaving can lead to cuts, skin irritations, and ingrown hairs, also the fabulous after-shave smoothness does not last long.
Cleavage
The right size and style of the bra is the key of looking perfect in your dress, with no lumps, or lines. If you didn’t pay any attention to what underwear to wear with your dress, take your time and search for the perfect one.

Hair
Give your hair a good home deep conditioning treatment: mix a teaspoon of olive oil, two teaspoons of mayonnaise, and one egg and apply it to the hair. It's pretty concentrated so that's all you need. Cover it with a plastic cap and leave it on for thirty minutes.

On the day of the Prom

Manicure/pedicure
These two are must do's! Don’t skip any of these two. You’ll feel more confident and sexy with those freshly polished nails. Soak them, file them, color them if you haven’t got them done at the nail salon. Match the polish with your outfit and makeup, also accessorize with precious rings, watches and/or bracelets.

Body
Glowing and glossy skin – You’ll be pretty exposed in your prom dress, so you might want to hide imperfections and add some flair to your look. Use body gloss or shimmer body lotion – these can be purchased at cosmetic counters or you can make one at home by mixing some body lotion with glitter or crushed shimmer gold eye shadow.

When you apply it make sure you get small amounts at a time, because it can get messy and you can stain your dress.

Makeup
The perfect prom look should be complete with not too much –not too little makeup, you must glow with your natural beauty, so use makeup to enhance your natural features. You will need only a little eye-popping drama: soft smokey eyes, cat eyes, false eye lashes, sexy red pout. The best tip is to test your makeup beforehand and see which one flatters you most so it doesn’t look like you’ve been trying too hard.
