What You Should Be Buying to Stay On Trend in 2008

This Year has brought in many colorful and fun styles onto the fashion scene. Here’s what you need to purchase to look classically up-to-date.

1. Leather Biker Jackets—Okay, they don’t have to be real leather (PETA would prefer they weren’t anyway), but these motorcycle jackets make any outfit look dangerously chic. Guess has several styles that aren’t too expensive, and will also keep you warm during the colder months.

2. Grey Boots—This winter trend will likely be carried over into spring because of its versatility. Many styles (flat boots or ones with a slight heel) can be found at Zappos.

3. Gladiator Sandals—A direct copy from runway styles, these sandals are perfect for those ready to hop into spring shoes. However, stay away from anything higher than the ankle—unless you’re going for the “300” look. Delia's offers a great, inexpensive pair.

4. Clover Jewelry—This style can be worn all year round, not just on St. Patrick’s Day. Heidi Klum’s line is gorgeously simplistic, but more inexpensive versions can be found at most jewelry stores.

5. Brights—Citrus and berry shades can brighten up even the worst case of the winter blahs. Dresses or shoes in fun colors can instantly transform any outfit.

6. High-Waisted Pants—Although not all body types can pull of this look, dress pants or jeans are made more professional looking by drawing up the waistline. Levis makes several styles of high-waisted denim that could even work as office wear.

7. Leopard Print Scarves—Technically, this has been a popular trend for several seasons now…but it’s no surprise, since these scarves are ubiquitous among the young Hollywood It Girls. Nicole Richie, Lindsey Lohan, and Mary-Kate Olsen have all been spotted with this accessory.

8. Long Dresses—Minis are definitely on the way out. Long dresses flatter nearly all body shapes by lengthening the torso. Another bonus: styles can be found at nearly all department stores.

9. Concert Tees—Not just for the teenage set, these T-shirts offer nostalgia and comfort at the same time. Oldglory.com offers a wide selection of concert tees featuring classic rock artists, so there is surely something to please every music fan.

10. Snake Jewelry—Another trend spotted on celebrities, this jewelry provides details of interest to what could otherwise be a boring outfit. One of the best representations of this style is Roberto Cavalli’s collection found at netaporter.com.

So, remember these fashion rules: stay comfortable and true to your own fashion preferences, and add these trends to your wardrobe to keep your style from looking dated. Happy shopping!
